The Charles A. Eulett Education Center and Edge of Appalachia Museum will create an Adams County location for scientific research, business retreats and hands-on student learning. The 8,000 square foot education and training center will be equipped with a research laboratory, multipurpose rooms, state-of-the-art technology and overnight accommodations. Located on the Richard and Lucile Durrell Edge of Appalachia Preserve—which serves southwest and southern Ohio naturalists, educators, students and researchers—the design and construction of the new facility will incorporate local natural materials, employ local craftspeople, and will integrate with the natural topography of the site. new $2.3 million education center. The preserve is owned and operated by the Cincinnati Museum Center in partnership with The Nature Conservancy.
A project of the Cincinnati Museum Center, the Eulett Center is equipped with a research laboratory, multipurpose rooms, state-of-the-art technology, and overnight accommodations available for scientific research, hands-on student learning, and business retreats. Cincinnati Museum Center representatives and public officials celebrated the grand opening of the facility on May 10, 2008. The project has received three state appropriations totaling $2.3 million, and more than $2 million was reimbursed in fiscal year 2008. A recent $150,000 appropriation received Commission approval in February 2009, and helped fund driveway and parking lot paving, drains, retaining walls, guard rails, and grading at the Eulett Center, resulting in improved access and increased safety for visitors to the facility.
