Fort Piqua Hotel

Fort Piqua Hotel

Facility

The five-story Fort Piqua Hotel, constructed in 1891, once served as a luxurious hotel that hosted presidents and famous figures in the entertainment industry. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places but vacant for several years, the hotel recently underwent renovations to redevelop the space for restaurants, retail, and a banquet hall; and to relocate the Flesh Public Library into three stories of the building.

Current Project

In addition to providing free informational and educational resources to the community, the Flesh Public Library also preserves, collects, and exhibits historical artifacts pertaining to the city of Piqua and Miami County. The library will utilize a $200,000 state appropriation to create permanent display space for rotating exhibitions on local history. The project will create 40 display cases, interpretive signs, and an art exhibition area for interpreting local history through art and artifacts. The project was approved by the Commission in March 2008.
