Our House Tavern, built in 1819, served as the center of social life in Gallipolis for many years. General Lafayette visited in 1825—an event still marked by an annual celebration in this Ohio River community.
Funds totaling $50,000 were appropriated in Am. Sub. H.B. 562 of the 127th General Assembly, and will be used to repair the brick garden wall. A previous project received a $45,000 state appropriation, and consisted of window and flooring rehabilitation, interior plastering, and site work, including storm sewer installation. The project was recommended by the Appalachian Region Public Facilities Task Force, and was completed in fiscal year 1997.
