The Ohio Historical Center in Columbus was completed in 1970 to house the Ohio Historical Society’s central museum, archives, library and administrative staff.
Seven state appropriations totaling $5.9 million are being used to renovate and improve the Ohio Historical Center. Recent improvements have included roof replacement, public area renovations, mechanical upgrades, and security system improvements. Funds appropriated in Am. Sub. H.B. 699 of the 126th General Assembly are being used for office space renovation. Planning activities occurred during fiscal year 2008, and the office renovations will be done in fiscal year 2009. An additional $514,000 was appropriated by the 127th General Assembly in Am. Sub. H.B. 562 that will assist with replacement of deteriorating water mains in the building.
