National Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center

National Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center

Facility

The state acquired the old Wilberforce University campus in 1982 for the construction of the National Afro–American Museum and Cultural Center. The center educates the public about African–American history and culture by collecting, preserving, and interpreting material evidence of the Black experience. State funds from three appropriations totaling $763,768 were used to improve the museum and the adjacent Carnegie Library.
