The only fort built by the American Continental Army in what is now Ohio, Fort Laurens is the site of a museum and the Tomb of Ohio’s Unknown Patriot—a memorial to the heroes of the American Revolution.
Projects at Fort Laurens have three state appropriations totaling $228,859, including $25,000 as recommended by the Appalachian Region Public Facilities Task Force. The work has included archaeological surveys, exterior and interior repairs, and exhibit improvements. During fiscal year 2008, a trail through the park was completed using state and private funds.
