In July 1994, the Governor and Legislature appropriated $5 million for the construction and renovation of facilities in Ohio’s 29-county Appalachian region. Twelve projects totaling $666,813 were assigned to the Commission. The projects include four state historical facilities and eight cultural facilities and local historical sites.
State funds totaling $13,728 were used for architectural services related to the renovation of the Dennison Depot. Built in 1873, the train station is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The project was completed in September 1997.
