The Dayton Art Institute is modeled after the Villa Farnese in Caprarola, Italy, and has a world-renowned collection of more than 10,000 works of art. The institute reopened its doors to the public on June 15, 1997, following an extensive rehabilitation and expansion project. The state contributed $2.75 million toward the $22-million project.
