Cedar Bog Nature Preserve Education Center

Cedar Bog Nature Preserve Education Center

Facility

Cedar Bog Nature Preserve and Education Center near Urbana is one of Ohio’s rarest and most fragile natural areas. The U.S. Department of the Interior has registered the site as a National Natural Landmark. Visitors may see rare reptiles, fish, and butterflies, and more than 100 species of birds while exploring the preserve.

Current Project

Two state appropriations totaling $1.05 million were used to construct an education center that includes visitor and service facilities. During fiscal year 2007, the Ohio Historical Society worked with an advisory group to design and bid the new education center, which was built during fiscal year 2008. An additional $50,000 was appropriated in Am. Sub. H.B. 562 of the 127th General Assembly, which will be used for additional improvements to the site.
