Canal Park
Facility
Canal Park is home to the Akron Aeros, the AA affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. The park opened in April 1997, and in the first two seasons the Aeros set league attendance records by drawing more than a million fans to downtown Akron. The state-of-the-art ballpark seats 8,500 and is expandable to accommodate a AAA team, with seating for 12,500. The state appropriated $5.8 million for stadium construction.
