Campus Martius Museum

Facility

Campus Martius, a fort established in 1788 in what is now Marietta, was the first organized settlement in the Northwest Territory. The Rufus Putnam House, the oldest known residence in Ohio, survives from the original fort.

Current Project

A total of $1.1 million was appropriated for site repairs, museum renovation, and exhibit work that were completed in fiscal year 1997. The roof was repaired in fiscal year 2000, and the interior was painted in fiscal year 2001.
