Buffington Island

Buffington Island State Memorial commemorates the only major Civil War battle that took place in Ohio.
Current Project
The state appropriated $100,000 in Am. Sub. H.B. 850 of the 122nd General Assembly for various site enhancements. In 2002, a small but significant parcel adjacent to the park was purchased by the state and, in 2006, funds were used to rehabilitate the fieldstone monument and park structures. During fiscal year 2008, the site's bronze plaques were restored.
