The Commission’s first assignment was to determine the need for a state performing arts center, which culminated in the 1995 opening of the Stanley J. Aronoff Center for the Performing Arts in Cincinnati. The Aronoff Center was built at a total cost of $82.4 million, including $40 million in state funding. Noted architect Cesar Pelli designed the facility. The center consists of three stunning performance spaces: Procter & Gamble Hall, Jarson-Kaplan Theater, and Fifth Third Bank Theater. Procter & Gamble Hall features a beautiful ceiling studded with 3,000 fiber-optic lenses that create a starlight effect.
