For more than 65 years, the Contemporary Arts Center has served Cincinnati and the region as a forum for progressive art and ideas. In 2003, the Center opened the dynamic, internationally acclaimed, six-story Lois & Richard Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Art. Renowned architect Zaha Hadid designed the 82,000-square-foot facility. The building’s unique design blurs the distinction between the interior and the streetscape in a gesture intended to make contemporary art more accessible to the public. Interconnecting galleries are of varying sizes and heights to accommodate the varied shapes, scales, and media of contemporary art. The state contributed $5.5 million to the $34-million facility.
