The Kidron Community Historical Society is expanding Sonnenberg Village, a historical village that re-creates Mennonite culture circa 1820-1900. The five-acre site will eventually consist of 24 historical buildings, where artisans demonstrate time-honored crafts such as pottery, blacksmithing, and furniture-making.
A state appropriation of $200,000 will be used by the society to create a village welcome center to provide a starting point for village tours, and house village offices and public restrooms. The Commission approved the project at its May 2012 meeting.
