Dalton Community Historical Society

Facility

The Dalton Community Historical Society was formed in 1978 to collect, preserve and present artifacts related to the history of Dalton. The society operates a historic house museum, and recently built a new building to house its collections, including two sizable additions: a 1936 Reo fire engine, and an 1885 Schultz wagon, from Dalton-based manufacturer, Schultz Buggy & Carriage Shop.

Current Project

The new building was dedicated in June 2008, and a state appropriation of $10,000 in Am. Sub. H.B. 562 of the 127th General Assembly will help the Dalton Community Historical Society complete interior finish work, including installation of showcases and shelves, and reconfiguring the restroom for ADA compliance.
