The Bucyrus Community Theatre, built in the Art Deco style, opened in 1936. Vacant for years, the theater now is the focus of a community restoration effort. Upon reopening, the theater will serve as a downtown attraction, hosting community theater, concerts, high school productions and community events.
The first priority for the project will be a roof replacement; a temporary roof has been installed to prevent further water damage. Future efforts will focus on interior restoration of the 1,000-seat theater. The project received an appropriation of $250,000 in Am. Sub. H.B. 562 of the 127th General Assembly.
