W. P. Snyder Jr. Restoration

Facility

Moored on the Muskingum River at the Ohio River Museum, the W. P. Snyder Jr. is the last intact steam-powered "pool-type" stern-wheeled towboat in the United States, and is a National Historic Landmark.

Current Project

An $876,000 appropriation in Am. Sub. H.B. 699 of the 126th General Assembly will be used to replace failing and deteriorated parts of the boat, including the hull; to replace the electrical system; and to preserve and restore the interior and exterior of the boat. Work will be completed during fiscal year 2009.
