The Davis–Shai House offers community programs, including outdoor concerts, holiday events, lectures, a dinner–theater series, and Victorian teas. The Gothic Revival Civil War-era home, which serves as a cultural arts and special-event rental facility for Licking County, was moved in 1996, renovated in 2000–2001, and opened to the public in September 2001.
Two state appropriations totaling $1.025 million will help fund the home’s $1.5-million expansion project. The project will add 5,400 square feet to the building, enlarging the Fairview Room and the serving kitchen, adding meeting and storage space and two ADA-compliant restrooms, installing an ADA-compliant elevator, and creating additional parking spaces and lighting in the parking lot. The project received Commission approval in May 2009.
