With a collection of more than five million artifacts and specimens, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History serves as a valuable resource for scientists, the corporate community, and students of all ages--from preschool to university. Incorporated in 1920, the museum maintains collections and research areas focused on natural history and diversity, health, conservation and sustainability. The museum's extensive education and outreach programs include classes and lectures for all ages, camps, school and distance learning programs, and wide-ranging teacher resources.
The museum is in the early stages of a multimillion-dollar fundraising effort to reinvent how it presents its natural history collections to the public. The 127th General Assembly appropriated $150,000 for the project in Am. Sub. H.B. 562. Redesigned galleries and a new lobby are part of the project to enhance the visitor experience.
