Chester Academy


Chester Academy

The Chester Academy was built in 1840 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The academy is used by the Chester Shade Historical Association and the Daughters of America, and accommodates tours from local schools.

Current Project

The Chester Shade Historical Association has received two state appropriations totaling $50,000 for various improvements at the Chester Academy. Funds of $25,000 were reimbursed to provide electrical and HVAC work, and the remaining $25,000 will assist with the construction of two ADA-compliant restrooms and two warming kitchens.
