Ohio Cultural Facilities Commission Approves $220,000
for Woman's Art Club of Cincinnati Cultural Center

Columbus, Ohio –
The Ohio Cultural Facilities Commission approved $220,000 at its quarterly meeting today for the Woman’s Art Club of Cincinnati.

Founded in 1892, the Woman's Art Club of Cincinnati is the oldest continuously operating woman's art club in the country. In 2007, the Woman’s Art Club purchased the historic 1923 Resthaven Barn, and converted it into a cultural arts center. The barn is a National Historic Landmark and was the founding location of United Dairy Farmers. This historic facility now hosts art classes, workshops and gallery exhibitions, and houses the club’s offices. The current rehabilitation project will convert the first floor of the barn’s east wing into additional space for programs and meetings; the exterior of the barn will also be painted.

The Commission approval, coupled with the signing of legal agreements, allows the Woman’s Art Club of Cincinnati to be reimbursed on a pro rata basis with funds appropriated in Am. Sub. H.B. 562 of the 127th General Assembly. Hamilton County General Assembly members who voted in favor of the bill include Senators Eric Kearney, Robert Schuler and Bill Seitz, and Representatives Louis Blessing, Steve Driehaus, Dale Mallory, Robert Mecklenborg, Michelle Schneider, and Tyrone Yates.

The Ohio Cultural Facilities Commission is a state agency that helps enhance the quality of life for Ohioans by improving the state’s cultural facilities. The Commission partners with nonprofit groups and local governments on more than 300 projects in 72 of Ohio’s 88 counties. For more information on the Commission, visit www.culture.ohio.gov.
