Ohio Cultural Facilities Commission Approves
$100,000 for Veterans' Park Project

Columbus, Ohio –
The Ohio Cultural Facilities Commission approved $100,000 at its quarterly meeting today for the Springfield Arts Council’s Veterans’ Park project.

Each summer, Veterans’ Park is home to the Springfield Summer Arts Festival, operated by the Springfield Arts Council. The festival’s six-week run features performances by local and national artists at the 17-acre park’s amphitheater. The project will expand patron amenities at the amphitheater through construction of a concession sales and storage area, a terrace with café tables and chairs, men’s and women’s ADA-compliant restrooms, office space, and landscaping.

The Commission approval, coupled with the signing of legal agreements, allows the Springfield Arts Council to be reimbursed on a pro rata basis with funds appropriated in Am. Sub. H.B. 699 of the 126th General Assembly. Clark County General Assembly members who voted in favor of the bill include Senator Chris Widener, Representative Ross McGregor, and former Senator Steve Austria.

The Ohio Cultural Facilities Commission is a state agency that supports economic development, expands educational opportunities, and enhances the quality of life for Ohioans by improving the state’s cultural facilities.
