Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio Cultural Facilities Commission approved $1,044,649 at its quarterly meeting today for the Toledo Science Center.
The Toledo Science Center, formerly COSI Toledo, will utilize state capital funds to conduct strategic facility and exhibit upgrades in preparation for its reopening in fall 2009. Facility improvements will include new way-finding interior and exterior signage, new flooring, updated interior lighting fixtures, and new and enhanced exhibitions.
The Commission approval, coupled with the signing of legal agreements, allows the Toledo Science Center to be reimbursed on a pro rata basis with funds appropriated in Am. Sub. H.B. 16 of the 126th General Assembly. Lucas County General Assembly members who voted in favor of the bill include Senators Teresa Fedor and Mark Wagoner; Representatives Edna Brown, Randy Gardner and Peter Ujvagi; and former Representative Jeanine Perry.
