Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio Cultural Facilities Commission approved $1,025,000 at its quarterly meeting today for the Davis-Shai House.
The Civil War-era Gothic Revival home offers a variety of cultural programs, including concerts, exhibitions, classes and dinner theater. The historic home also is available as special-event space for the community. The home’s $1.5-million expansion project will add 5,400 square feet to the building, enlarging the Fairview Room and the serving kitchen, adding meeting and storage space and two ADA-compliant restrooms, installing an ADA-compliant elevator, and creating additional parking spaces and lighting in the parking lot.
The Commission approval, coupled with the signing of legal agreements, allows the Heath Community Arts Council to be reimbursed on a pro rata basis with funds appropriated in Am. Sub. H.B. 699 of the 126th General Assembly and Am. Sub. H.B. 562 of the 127th General Assembly. Licking County General Assembly members who voted in favor of the bills include Senator Tim Schaffer, Representatives Dan Dodd and Jay Hottinger, and former Representatives David Evans and Ron Hood.
