Senate President Harris Appoints Bill Seitz
to Ohio Cultural Facilities Commission


COLUMBUS
, OHIO – Senator Bill Seitz (R-Cincinnati) has been appointed by Senate President Bill Harris to the Ohio Cultural Facilities Commission. Sen. Seitz will serve as an ex-officio member of the Commission.

Sen. Seitz represents the 8th Senate district in Hamilton County. He has served in the Senate since October 2007, and was a state representative from 2001 to 2007. Prior to becoming a state legislator, Sen. Seitz served as a Green Township Trustee from 1994 to 2000, and as a member of the Cincinnati Board of Education from 1990 to 1993. A a partner in the Litigation Department of Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP, Sen. Seitz is listed in the Best Lawyers in America, is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and serves on the board of advisors for the University of Cincinnati College of Law. Sen. Seitz serves as the chair of the Judiciary-Civil Justice committee, and is a member of the Senate Finance; Government Oversight; Insurance; Judiciary-Criminal Justice; and State and Local Government and Veterans Affairs committees. Sen. Seitz chairs the Civil Justice Task Force of the American Legislative Exchange Council, and was selected by that national organization as 2008 Legislator of the Year. He holds both a bachelor’s degree and a law degree from the University of Cincinnati.

The Ohio Cultural Facilities Commission consists of 12 members; nine voting and three non-voting. The three non-voting, ex-officio members include two legislative members, one each appointed by the Senate President and House Speaker, as well as the staff director of the Ohio Arts Council. Voting members of the Commission are appointed by the Governor, and are selected from various geographical areas of the state.
